optional text v4 tutorial

You'll be making something like:

The Steps

1. Finish your main text or whatever is gonna be under the optional text.

2. Type out your pixel text. For this tutorial, I'm using the font 'Ernest', size 10px, color #333333. You need to know how to use pixel fonts CLEARLY so the text isn't blurry. If you don't know how than {CLICK HERE} and follow that tutorial first.

Here's what I have so far:

3. Add a 1px gradient stroke.

Here's what I have so far:

And this is some of it zoomed in.

4. This part can be tricky. Click on the 'rectangular marquee tool'. You're gonna make a rectangle around the ENTIRE TEXT, but it needs to be spaced from the text & gradient stroke. Zoom in to like 1200% and start from the left.

I spaced mine like this.

The word "see" is really hard to determine the spacing because the gradient stroke blends with the background, but if you look at the word "you" can see there's like 2 "squares" above and 2 below the word.

And here it is:

5. Click on the paint bucket tool and fill the area with white {#ffffff}. See how it looks weird?

Change the layers opacity. This really depends on what you think looks best. Make sure it's 50% or below.

Add a drop shadow to the rectangle if you want and you're done.
