Preppy Stroke Tutorial

Lots of different strokes you can do, but this is one of the most common.

What you'll need:
  • One of the Photoshop programs.
  • This pattern >> click here <<
  • Gradient you already made.
  • **If you don't have a gradient and don't know how to make one please refer to my tutorial on how to make one**

    What you'll be making:
A stroke around the sitemodel like the one that's below

    The Steps

    1. Make sure the background is already cut out, sharpened, and black & white or whatever else you need it to be. Mine will be black & white. It's just not in the picture below.

    2. Click the 'fx' that's under the layers palette.

    3. Click stroke and match your settings to mine. Then click "OK"

    4. Create a new layer by clicking the icon below (it's underneath your layers- same row as the fx)

    5. Drag the new layer underneath the signs layer. Right click on the signs layer and click "Merge Down" to merge the sign layer down onto the new layer.

    6. Click the fx again. Match your settings to mine. Then click "OK"

    7. Create a new layer by clicking the icon below again

    8. Drag the new layer underneath the signs layer. Right click on the signs layer and click "Merge Down" to merge the sign layer down onto the new layer.

    9. Click the fx again. Match your settings to mine, but of course with your own gradient (you can move the angle around if you want) and then click "OK".

    10. Create a new layer AGAIN. Drag it below the sign layer AGAIN. Right click on the sign layer and merge it down AGAIN.

    11. Click the fx. You're going to be adding a "Stroke" and "Drop Shadow" this time. Match both of the settings to mine but for the stroke use either your scanline pattern or the one I have provided for you.
