  • preppy text v16 tutorial

    What you'll need:
  • One of the Photoshop programs.
  • this polka dot pattern
  • this grunge pattern

  • You'll be making something like this:

    The Steps

    1. Type out your text how you want it (sizing and font). Color it the text like this [click here] tutorial.

    2. Duplicate the text layer once. Rasterize both of the layer. (right click on it and click Rasterize Type") The original layer should be on the bottom. On that layer, Click "Filter >> Other >> Offset"

    3. On the bottom layer (original one) it should now be moved over. Double click on the layer and add a color overlay.

    I have this so far.

    4. Click "Filter >> Noise >> Add Noise" and match your settings to mine

    I have this so far.

    5. On the top layer, you're going to add an Inner Shadow, Inner Glow, Bevel and Emboss, and Pattern Overlay.

    Color used is #202020.

The settings for this may need to change for you. It depends on your colors honestly.

This is what I have so far

    6. Create 2 new layers. Drag one under the top text layer and one under the bottom. Right click on the top text layer and merge it down onto the new layer. Do the same with the bottom text layer.

    7. Right click on the top text layer and Merge Down to the bottom text layer. Now you'll have ONE text layer. Double click on the text layer. Click "Drop Shadow" and match the settings to mine. I used color #202020.

    I have this so far.

    8. Create a new layer. Drag it below the text layer. Merge the text layer down.

    9. All that's left is the final strokes. Stroke the layer: size 2px, color #202020.

    I have this so far.

    10. Repeat step 8. Stroke the layer: 2px, your gradient at angle 0 OR -180. You choose. I did -180. You're going to add a drop shadow and pattern overlay now.

Use the grunge pattern I provided.
