preppy text v21 tutorial

You'll be making something like:

The Steps

1. Ok so to save time, download this text psd -> {CLICK HERE}

2. Color your text, but make every other letter a white color. I used color #f3f8f8 for the white. So for this tutorial I'm gonna show the text on a sign cause it's just easier with the white.

3. Duplicate the layer twice. On the 2nd layer, use the move tool to move it to the right 1-2 times and down twice. Hide ALL the effects that are already on it (like inner shadow) from my PSD. Add a color overlay.

Add glitter by clicking "Filter >> Noise >> Add Noise" >> rasterize it! >> match your settings to mine.

I have this now:

4. On the third layer, move it to the right 2-4 times and down 2-4 times. Add a color overlay again. This time don't add glitter!

5. Right click the FIRST text layer and click "Rasterize Type." Click on the magic wand tool, hold in the CTRL key on your keyboard and select your colored letters (NOT THE WHITE).

Right click inside the selected letters and click "layer via cut." A new layer should have popped up with only the colored letters. Here are my layers so far

6. Now use the magic wand tool to select all the white letters. Layer Via Cut them too. Duplicate the colored letters layer and the white letters layer.

7. On the DUPLICATED colored letters layer: Go to the blending options. Deselect all of the effects it has (like inner shadow). Now change the fill opacity to 0%.

Add a 1px stroke. Make sure your settings match mine exactly, including the position.

Use the move tool to move it to the right a few times and down a few times. You can decide where you want it. Now create a new layer and merge the new layer with the colored text layer. Click "Filter >> Noise >> Add noise"

8. Do everything you just did to the duplicated colored text layer, except this time do it to the white text layer AND DO NOT ADD NOISE TO THE WHITE STROKE! Now move it to the LEFT and UP a few times.
